Blatant Distortion By CTV!

Read the headline:

Many Canadians don't believe in a god: poll

Oh dear, that's bad news for God. Or is it?

TORONTO -- Fewer than three-quarters of Canadians believe in a god, suggests a new Canadian Press Harris-Decima survey.

So how many fewer than 75%????

The poll found 72 per cent of respondents said they believed in a god, while 23 per cent said they did not believe in any god. Six per cent did not offer an opinion.

Oh, so 72% believe in a god, right that's way fewer than three-quarters. Do you see the deception here? Most people read only the title and the first paragraph or two. So what's the next paragraph?

"Religion in Canada today is not a particularly divisive subject and tolerance levels for different beliefs are high,'' said Harris-Decima president Bruce Anderson. "This is evident in the fact that one in four people feel comfortable saying they do not believe in a god.''

Tolerance levels are high and it's not divisive, and this is a BAD thing, that's what the title leads us to believe. So, 72% of us believe in a god, and we tolerate other opinions, so what's the problem?

At least one commenter understood the bias:

Bill Fraser
Why is this story written like more people than not believe in a god? It is quite clear that the majority of Canadians believe in a god. I would like to know what the question was that was asked.

Me too Bill! Why didn't the title say: 23% of Canadians are godless? Sad, biased reporting by CTV.

The best comment is this one:

Steve in Aylmer
I'd say most people hold God in the same light as police officers.

We curse them but who's the first person we call when someone's trying to break into our homes...the police...but damn them for doing their jobs when they give us traffic tickets.

It's the same with believing in God. When at any given moment you look for someone to help in your time of need...we look to God.

For example, God help my baby live through this terrible accident, God help my parents survive cancer.

The great thing about the word of God is even on your death bed...call unto him and he'll forgive you of your sins.

In your time of need, you will suddenly believe in God! Funny how that works.

Inspiring - A Flag In A Pawn Shop

Thanks troops! Ask them what freedom means, they know it better than any single one of us who have never been on the front lines. God bless, and may he keep you all safe, as you keep us safe.

Friday Funnies: Eye Candy For The Ladies!

Something to remind you about being careful about how much beer you drink:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
John the Baptist

Johnny's mother looked out the window and noticed
him 'playing church' with their three kittens.

He had the kittens sitting in a row, and he was preaching to them... preaching to them?
She smiled and went about her work.

A while later she heard loud meowing and
hissing and ran back to the open window
to see Johnny baptizing the kittens in a
tub of water.

She called out, 'Johnny, stop that!
Those kittens are afraid of water!'
Johnny looked up at her and said, 'They
should have thought about that before they
joined my church.'

Have a great weekend, remember it's only us political junkies who give a hoot about politics, unless "boobs" are involved, then you get lot's of guys attention. This might end up being a positive for the Conservatives, but secretly, because the guys can't actually look at the "boob" pictures without getting a purse to the head! HA! Go golfing tomorrow, forget about it for awhile!

Best of QP May 29, Van Loan Diet!

I'm not sure that Peter knows he has gone on a diet, but with all the getting up to answer repetitive questions, I'm sure it's working.

Chuck Strahl points out how ridiculous the opposition is getting, not one question for him. As a matter of fact, poor Peter had to answer over 90% of the questions. What fatigued me most, were the dumb questions being asked by ALL opposition parties.

Don't get me wrong, I think this issue is not closed because Bernier resigned, but after so many supposed scandals, the average voter is going to choose "none of the above" if ALL parties don't start acting like grown ups.

I guess sex sells and that's why the opposition and MSM want to keep this issue in the spotlight. So, is it boobs that Canadians are concerned about, or health care wait times. The opposition is hiding behind another non-issue because they have no plan, no leaders, no vision, and no power. If this is such a scandal, vote down the government! Come on, you can do it! I dare you!

Cue the crickets!

Here's a thought, everytime we click on an article from the Toronto Star, everytime we comment on an article at the Globe and Mail, everytime we watch a video on the CTV website, everytime we link to an article on our blogs, we are increasing their "hits", they can sell this to their advertisers. Now, I don't mean we shouldn't do that anymore, but how about if we see a blogger who has linked to an article, we link to that blog, not to the article. Send the traffic to the blog, not the newspaper.

In the meantime, I hope Peter Van Loan understands that I'm trashing the opposition not him, I think he's doing a great job.

Chuck Strahl was right on target today, he was really funny but he made a powerful point, the Liberals did nothing to improve the state of our "First Nations" people, the Conservatives have started to change that, I suspect some "First Nations" people are not going to like their power being diminished. Why aren't the feminists protesting the fact that aboriginal women have had no rights, until finally a Conservative government has passed a law to protect them? Are they only out for themselves, and not to help real women who need assistance?

Nice diet Van Loan, answering stupid questions day in and day out has some benefit!

NDP Snoops!

We all remember Irene Mathyssen accusing James Moore of "scantily clad women" on his laptop, she is a good 3 rows up from him in the House, but she saw what she saw!

Now, we get Dawn Black, sitting two seats from Bernier, on a plane, reading a page from a brief in a seat pocket. Hope she got eye strain!

Now, am I correct in understanding that she just revealed what was written on a private brief to everyone listening to Mike Duffy Live? Then she laughs, stating that's all she could see? Dawn Black joins her sister in snoops, Irene. Why didn't she just tap him on the shoulder and tell him she could read "A PAGE" of the brief?? Nope, the snoop obviously spent all flight memorizing what she could read, or did she write it down?

NDP snoops, don't let them near government or they will be spouting off all of the "secret" documents they can get their hands on. NDP snoops, and Liberal "secret sources", no wonder the Conservative government is not open with the press, they don't have to be, the opposition leaks everything they can to the MSM. Or the MSM leaks everything to the opposition parties, seems to work both ways.

Best of QP Liberals Frothing Mad!

This is hilarious! The Liberals were way out of control today, spit and all! The PM might have met with CSIS, and this has upset the Liberals, who just yesterday were saying that the PM had done nothing for 5 weeks about checking on security surrounding the Bernier affair. Now that he might have, they want to know why he did it.

Do you get their logic? First they cried that nothing had been done, now that maybe the PM had talked to CSIS, they are mad that he did. Yah, I agree, they have no logic.

They truely have no shame, they have no logic, they have no leader. They are way out of control, and Dion obviously has no respect from his own party members.

How's that debt repayment going Dion? If Elections Canada extends his deadline, their outright bias will only help the Conservatives case in court. So, what's it going to be? Will Powercorp rescue Dion? Can they legally pay off his debts? Or will Elections Canada rescue Dion? Inquiring minds want to know! HA!

What award was PM Harper given, and why haven't we seen this on the MSM? We know they aren't biased because my Anon liberal stalkers tell us this all the time! What do we get, CTV provides us with 1 minute and 38 seconds of Roger Smith yapping about weight loss, and sex! Nope, no bias there!

Contrast that with the CTV story on "Liberals accuse....." they have 7 seperate videos totaling up 29 minutes and 13 seconds of coverage! Nope no bias there!

Less than 2 minutes of coverage of the Prime Minister of Canada, close to 30 minutes of Liberals making up scandals and frothing at the mouth. Nice!

Question Period May 27- Count With Me!

I might have missed one, even so, 42 minutes out of the hour on slimy "it's not about the girl" comments. Let's start monitoring ALL MP's and their behaviour. You want to go out on a date, security check first. You want to escape with your lover, (not your wife) security check, and call to the wife. You want to go for a drink at HY's? Check the security of all those press types hanging out at the bar.

The opposition was ridiculous today. Peter Van Loan had to get up for just about every question in the House. At one point he got shouted down. My kids behave better in school than the opposition.

A sure sign that the opposition is going nowhere is the fact that all they do is try to scandal monger. Not one question about the environment, when PM Harper is over in Europe for the specific purpose of promoting environmental issues.

It strikes me that the Liberals haven't really accepted the fact that they are not in power. Most importantly, they should be ashamed of themselves for helping to destroy a good MP's career. Jealousy is like an acid that eats away at morals.

Do The Shuffle, The Cabinet Shuffle!

Okay, we all understand that another cabinet shuffle is coming...so speak up for your favorite MP, make your case, maybe someone in the government will be listening. Here's a few mentioned by Jane Taber.

Now, I find it really interesting that she would mention James Rajotte, my MP! He has been flying under the radar, sitting as the Chairman of the Industry Committee, one of the last functioning committees on the Hill. Maybe one more Alberta MP can be squeezed in, but I'm not holding my breath.

Of course, I also like James Moore and Jason Kenney, all are young, and have shown their maturity. Let's get Diane Ablonczy a better position, and let's shift Rona into a higher profile position. Monte would be good at Foreign Affairs, he's a great communicator.

Now, looking at my choices, it appears I have a western bias, so why don't some of you easterners stick up for your favorites!

Let's see how close we can get to the cabinet shuffle.

Perogies and Kulbasa!

Being of Ukrainian descent, I take great pride in the President of Ukraine visiting Canada, and being asked to address Parliament. I've never been to Ukraine, or Europe for that matter, but a little bit of the Ukraine lives in our family, they are called perogies and kulbasa.

I remember my parents talking Ukrainian at the dinner table, personally I think they were telling dirty jokes because they would never translate for us kids. My Mom's first language was Ukrainian, but she quickly learnt English as did my Grandfather.

I never tire of hearing the stories of work crews helping with the harvest, the yearly trip from Mundare (home of the biggest kulbasa in the world) to Edmonton by horse buggy, and my Mom's pet pig...until, well you know what happened to that pig! They kept some traditions, but most integrated into Canadian society.

There is a strong Ukrainian community here, but we are not in cultural ghettos like new immigrants in Toronto, we are everywhere. The Ukrainians, Germans, Italians and other European people shaped the west as it is today. It's quiet out here, the Germans are not fighting the Ukrainians, there is no need.

We do seem to have Kurds and Turks attacking each other though! What's up with that?

Anyone who wants an authentic recipe for perogies, cabbage rolls, pickled beets, pickles, or borscht, I've got them, I use them, and I plan to pass them on to my kids, and if you ever eat a real homemade perogy, you will understand why.

So kudos to PM Harper for forging better ties with Ukraine.

Ingrates!

This article really disgusts me, it shows how low, supposedly humanitarian aid organizations, will stoop to bash this government. So much for donating to any of these organizations. Not one mentioned the 2 million that was immediately given, nor the 12 million since. Nope, all they can whine about is the matching donations.

Strings attached to feds' pledge to match donations

OTTAWA -- The federal government's offer to match Canadian donations to disaster relief efforts in China and Burma turns out to be nowhere near as generous as it initially appeared.

Humanitarian groups have been disappointed to discover the bulk of donations they've received thus far -- in the immediate aftermath of the disasters -- won't be matched at all.

Ingrates! You slimy little ingrates, whining about our taxpayer money not being enough. I want every one of these organizations to explain to me, why only a portion of what is donated to them actually gets to the people who need the help.

For example, American Red Cross CEO, salary $651,957? What's up with that? Yet they have the audacity to claim the Government of Canada isn't giving them enough? That $651,957 would buy a lot of rice to feed the people who are starving in Burma.

Still, humanitarian groups are reluctant to criticize the government's response to the latest disasters, noting Ottawa is providing direct funding to various relief agencies in addition to the matching funds.

Oh, so they are criticizing the government, but not really? This is a stinky smelling lefty statement. Are they saying they will get funding cut off if they protest? Where is the proof? Has the government said, we will not give you anymore money if you protest? NOPE! But that sentence implies exactly that.

However belated or limited, aid groups are hopeful the promise of matching funding will encourage a second wave of donations from Canadians.

Now it's belated and limited? 14 million to Burma, 2 million immediately is belated? Maybe if the junta would open up the country so help could be given, the real people being affected might benefit. Not one mention of the restrictions the junta have imposed, it's all about the Canadian government not doing enough.

Well, I will not let my pocket be picked anymore, these organizations need to get their own houses in order before they start pointing fingers. They can line up behind the CBC crying for more $$$, or behind Dion wanting to tax our air. Show me the results, and I will give you the money, until then, forget it. Remember, it's Conservatives who actually give money, the Liberals are too busy saving the world while sipping latte's in Starbucks. They have never met a good cause they couldn't discuss, endlessly.

Ingrates!

Sweet Memories, Awesome Commercial!

After I graduated from university, first thing I did was get a job, second was to buy my first car. A white Ford Mustang with a T-roof, 302, 5 speed, it was one sweet ride!

When I met my husband, I wasn't too sure if it was the car he liked, or me! HA. The car is long gone, but hubby is still here, so I guess I have my answer. I would love to get a Mustang convertible, but kids and big dogs (planning on rescuing 2 greyhounds this fall, don't tell my husband, he doesn't know yet!) just won't fit. So, when I saw this commercial, it really brought back the memories!

It's an awesome show of respect for our troops, while promoting their product, but who cares, if you support our troops and love the Mustang, it's a great blend.

Hurry, Hurry Hard, Dion!

Hurry to get those carbon taxes implemented before the whole scam falls apart! Polar bears are dying, climate is changing, volcanos are erupting, sunspots are disappearing, we need to tax it ALL! Tax all that bad stuff, or we will all die! Or maybe not......

The first of four parts where Professor Bob Carter uses the scientific method on the popular theory with global warming being linked to CO2 levels. He examnines the hypothesis and it fails the test. Inconvenient Truth author Al Gore would find his presentation contradicted by this presentation? Will kyoto`s greenhouse reduction goals be in vain?

Interesting presentation, click the Youtube logo on the video to find parts 2 to 4, well worth watching. He destroys all the "talking points" the UN IPCC and environmentalists use.

More and more actual scientists are coming out to debunk the "global warming" myth. That is why you see more environmentalists getting shriller and shriller, they understand their days of milking the public are over.

Does Dion understand this? Doubtful, the guy is a sociologist pretending to be an environmentalist, like Suzuki. He did nothing about the environment when the Liberals had majorities, now he expects us to believe things will be different?

Thank God the Conservatives are in power, or we would be sending our "mega" bucks to Russia and China to meet Mo Strong's Kyoto targets.

Hurry, hurry hard, Dion, the days of a carbon tax are rapidly disappearing. Sell it now, or never.

H/T to JR from Just Right for leading me to the right site!

Another Poll Going Wrong!

Don't think this is the result the Globe and Mail is looking for, but it works for me! Remember, this is the far left Globe and Mail, so what went wrong? I have been watching the poll on and off all day, the results are staying relatively the same.

Has the Harper government's harder line toward China over the past two years hurt Canada?

Yes 33%
1544 votes

No 67%
3163 votes

I wonder if the results will look the same by tomorrow? Just wondering!

Friday Funnies: Spot the Killer!

Okay, it's Friday night, time to kick back, and enjoy some funnies.

When I got home last night, my wife demanded
that I take her out to some place expensive...

So, I took her to a GAS- STATION !!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you look at this picture close up, you see Albert Einstein,

but if you stand about fifteen feet away, the picture will become Marilyn Monroe. (You got up and tried it didn't you? Don't feel bad so did I. It is true though, not sure how they did that one!)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
We always need an animal picture: Deer and a cat.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
And finally we get to: Spot the killer! I got 9/10 on this one, it's kind of creapy, but interesting to see how good your instincts are, can you spot the murderer, or is it just a computer nerd? I suspect that women, with their sixth sense, will do better than men on this one, but you never know.

BY LOOKING AT A PICTURE OF A PERSON, YOU HAVE TO DECIDE IF HE IS A COMPUTER GEEK
OR A SERIAL KILLER.

GO WITH YOUR GUT FEELING AND CLICK ON YOUR CHOICE.

THERE ARE 10 PHOTOS. YOUR SCORE WILL BE GIVEN AT THE END.

Have a great weekend, start it off right with some humour!

James Moore, My New Hero!

James Moore slaughtered both Alexa and Irwin on Mike Duffy today. He really is a different type of politician, principled! He made the two of them look like the unprincipled political hacks they really are. The sparks fly near the end of the clip. It's a one, two, knockout punch. Listen carefully to Alexa's last words on the issue. Disgusting.

So are the NDP going to apologize to Brodie and Wilson, you heard it on the tape, right from Alexa's mouth....DOUBT IT!! The opposition parties have no moral compass, all they know is old fashioned politics, smear, steal and never admit you were wrong. I used to respect Irwin Colter as a Liberal, not anymore, it's really a shame that some of the Liberal MP's are selling their very reputations to get back into power.

The young Conservative MP's are really impressing me. James Moore handled the "Cadman scandal" with honesty and integrity. The RCMP have found no grounds to investigate. The opposition doesn't like that!

The "NAFTAgate scandal" has been investigated by the Privy Council, you can read the report at their site. Both Brodie and Wilson were totally exonerated. The opposition doesn't like that!

Next comes the PM's lawsuit against the Liberal party and the Conservative parties lawsuit against Elections Canada. I predict another 2 wins for the Conservatives.

Most importantly, the Conservatives are doing a great job of governing. (Yes, to you anon Liberal/NDP commenters, this is a highly partisan post. I am a Conservative, and this is my blog!)

Made In Canada EH???

I buy trusted Canadian brands and usually do not look at the labels. After listening to PM Harper about what might or might not be in the cans on my shelf, I went on an inspection tour of my pantry....the results were not pretty. First listen to the video, then let me share my results with you.

This is an idea I wholeheartedly agree with, it will help Canadian farmers, but most importantly, it will give consumer's a better idea of what we are buying.

My results, from a random sample of my pantry. (Accurate 19 times out of 20 HA!)

Hunt's Tomato Sauce...fine print, Product of the U.S.A.
Dole Pineapple Tidbits...Product of the Philippines (no big shock there)
Lipton Chicken Noodle Soup... no clue, nothing stated
Heinz Chili Style Beans...union made, where facilities exist, no idea where the actual beans are from.
Money's Mushrooms...Prepared for...where facilities exist...(small print) Product of P.R. of China
Kraft Pizza Kit...Carton made with 100% recycled fibres, made with real Kraft 100% grated parmesan cheese, where the ingredients come from? No clue!

Not one Made in Canada or Product of Canada in that random sample. These are all trusted "Canadian" brands, I buy them over "no-name" brands because I trust the quality of their product. I will still buy them, but, my eyes are a little wider open now.

What is with this...prepared for, where facilities exist label? It seems they slap a Canadian address on the label and pretend it was produced here. That needs to be cleaned up while we are cleaning up labelling practices.

I thought I was buying healthy foods, now, I'm not so sure.

So, check out your pantries, can anyone actually find a Made in Canada or Product of Canada label? I'd be interested to know what brand/product it is.

Made in Canada EH???

PM Harper Is A Conservative Right?

Last time I checked, PM Harper was the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, so, what is the actual Conservative party doing to promote what he is accomplishing with his MP's? I read Sandy's post about a wonderful speech he gave in Southern Ontario yesterday, including pictures. I couldn't be there, so I thought I would watch it on the Conservative party website. Nothing, not even pictures.

Now, if I can work all day, spend family time in the evening, and then late at night do a Youtube video for my blog, what exactly is the Conservative party doing to promote our Prime Minister? I went to the site, and looked in their video vault, it's empty. How can that be? Don't they have an awesome war room all covered in mothballs, with video equipment and everything gathering dust until October 2009?

What would it take for them to hire one video photographer to follow PM Harper around recording his speeches? Why do I have to rely on the biased MSM to provide me with clips of video? Why can't the Conservative party create some Youtube videos that I could watch? If they are doing that, where are they hiding them?

It's not as if the Conservative party is broke, and I'm sure many Conservatives like me would love to see more of PM Harper giving some of his speeches. Are they scared the Liberals might steal some of our ideas? HA!!

I want to see PM Harper getting his picture taken with average Canadians, taking his son to hockey games, instead of having to watch QP and hearing nothing but Liberal made-up scandals.

The Conservative party is so busy defining Dion and the Liberals, they are allowing the biased MSM to define our Prime Minister. It's time for the Conservative party to start showing Canadians candid videos of not only the PM, but the Minister's as well.

How hard can it be to promote the Prime Minister of Canada? What are they scared of? Being called partisan?

Wednesday, May 21, 2008

What A Prime Minister!

Don't let the MSM get you down, don't believe the polls, use the common sense God gave you, and watch this video. The MSM doesn't want you to see the good parts, like 2 real zingers the PM delivered during a question and answer segment.

I enjoyed seeing the PM, relaxed, outside of the poison atmosphere of Ottawa. The reporters asked real questions, that real Canadians, are interested about, not the scandal mongering questions the Parliamentary press ask. Are they still even relevant? Does anyone care about their "hurt feelings"? Not me. I'm fine with local reporters, asking the PM questions.

What a Prime Minister! I am very proud of him, and urge all Conservatives to forget the Liberal based non-scandals, and start highlighting the positives.

Spreading Hate To Fight Hate!

Ezra is interviewed by Mike Duffy Live. Here is a video highlighting both Ezra and Mike Duffy, and a disappointing Conservative strategist response.

I am a very staunch Conservative supporter, but I'm starting to get tired of a weak Conservative response to this issue. Where have all the "reformers" gone? This issue is going to blow up in the Conservatives face if they don't stop wimping out. Take a stand, please. At the very least, come out in support of the motion to get rid of section 18 of the HRC's.

This has now gone beyond a "blogger's" issue, and is hitting main street Canada. With Mike Duffy's coverage, this will only get bigger, it is not going to disappear.

I want to see the Conservative government come out of hiding on this issue, take a strong stance, and show Conservatives that they are not Liberal lites or Red Tories. They have all summer to educate the public on this issue, while the Liberals are educating us on why we should love a carbon tax.

Quit being sissies, we all know PM Harper didn't like the direction HRC's were going, so come out, come out, where ever you are, and quit hiding behind being the government, that just doesn't cut it with Canadians.

Common Sense, American Style.

My American friend sent me this one. It applies just as well to Canadians as it does to Americans.

I bought a bird feeder. I hung
it on my back porch and filled
it with seed. What a beauty of
a bird feeder it is, as I filled it
lovingly with seed. Within a
week we had hundreds of birds
taking advantage of the
continuous flow of free and
easily accessible food.

But then the birds started
building nests in the boards
of the patio, above the table,
and next to the barbecue.

Then came the poop. It was
everywhere: on the patio tile,
the chairs, the table ...
everywhere!

Then some of the birds
turned mean. They would
dive bomb me and try to
peck me even though I had
fed them out of my own
pocket.

And others birds were
boisterous and loud. They
sat on the feeder and
squawked and screamed at
all hours of the day and night
and demanded that I fill it
when it got low on food.

After a while, I couldn't even
sit on my own back porch
anymore. So I took down the
bird feeder and in three days
the birds were gone. I cleaned
up their mess and took down
the many nests they had built
all over the patio.

Soon, the back yard was like
it used to be..... quiet, serene,
and no one demanding their
rights to a free meal.

Now let's see.
Our government gives out
free food, subsidized housing,
free medical care, and free
education and allows anyone
born here to be an automatic
citizen.

Then the illegals came by the
tens of thousands. Suddenly
our taxes went up to pay for
free services; small apartments
are housing 5 families; you
have to wait 6 hours to be seen
by an emergency room doctor;
your child's 2nd grade class is
behind other schools because
over half the class doesn't speak
English.

Corn Flakes now come in a
bilingual box; I have to
'press one' to hear my bank
talk to me in English, and
people waving flags other
than 'Old Glory' are
squawking and screaming
in the streets, demanding
more rights and free liberties.

Just my opinion, but maybe
it's time for the government
to take down the bird feeder.
If you agree, pass it on; if not,
continue cleaning up the poop!

You Can't Just Make Things Up!

Unless you are a Liberal! Well, what a treat, we get Suzuki and McGuinty all in one day! Both are arrogant Liberals, who think the world revolves around them. Don't you dare disagree with them, they know everything, we know nothing.

Suzuki still has Mo Strong as an honourary board member. I wonder if Revenue Canada is still checking into the charitable status of his organization?

Seems regular Canadians are not being fooled anymore:

What's the best policy for reducing carbon emissions?

Regulating industry 80%
Carbon tax 20%

So, Dion, how's that carbon tax going? It's a sure winner, go for it! HA!

McGuinty has no idea what the Dion policy is, but when cornered, he uses the "well you haven't seen it yet excuse". Neither have you obviously. By the way, how is your brother Dalton doing with shutting down those coal generators? Thought so! What big mouth liar's both brothers are, and they are so arrogant they don't even blush when they lie.

I've done more for the environment so far this weekend then any Liberal MP has done in 13 years.

Liberal's never met a tax they didn't love!

Every Bone and Muscle In My Body Aches!

I've got blisters on my blisters! Why did I think that I had to get the veggie garden, my flower beds, and baskets all planted in one day? I'm not even close to halfway done yet.

I have already told my Hubby to get the wheel barrel ready for tomorrow, because that's the only way I'm going to be capable of getting around. Problem is my Hubby is feeling the pain too. Guess it's up to my snarky 15 year old, and my helpful 12 year old to finish the baskets.

My neighbourhood is great. I have been pawning off my excess cherry tomatoes to everyone who will take one. Judging by the size of my tomato plants, you would be paying $8 at least for them. Even though Edmonton is getting big, our neighbourhood is still friendly, or, it was, until a latte sipping family moved in.

Even before they moved in, they applied and won the right to run a "major landscaping business" out of their home, in the middle of Edmonton, we protested, 10 families showed up, but the lefty council ruled against us. Nice bobcat they have parked in front of their residential home, does wonders for my property value!

Now, they have told the next door neighbour that they must cut down half of their tree, because it's leaves are intruding on their property, and those neighbours have to pay for it! Seeing as these idiots are supposedly running a landscaping business, you would think they would understand how cutting a tree in half might just affect it's growth.

Oh, and they are cementing the 8 foot space between houses, That's attractive! They better slant that ugly cement towards their house and not the neighbours, or I am willing to dig it up and place it on their front doorstep.

A great place to live has been taken over by latte sipping liers. For instance, she says she is an engineer, but she is actually a secretary for an engineering firm. Now, I have nothing against secretaries, they keep businesses moving, but to lie about what you do, is just wrong.

As I creak my way to bed, I notice that the "new" neighbours have done nothing to make their property more attractive, not one flower planted, but, they are experts on what I should do. Idiots!

I am really tempted to put up a sign on my property, pointing to their yard, saying "And these are landscaping experts? Save your money!" Nah, I'm not that petty! Rant over!

Friday Funnies: Border Security

It's a long weekend so I expect most of you are gone to the cottage, lake or like me you are planting flowers, veggies and enjoying the great weather after a long cold winter. We can all still use a laugh so here are some funnies to take you into the long weekend...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHERE DO RED-HEADED BABIES COME FROM?????

After their baby was born, the panicked father went to see the Obstetrician. "Doctor," the man said, "I don't mind telling you, but I'm a little upset because my daughter has red hair. She can't possibly be mine!!"

"Nonsense," the doctor said".

"Even though you and your wife both have black hair, one of your ancestors may have contributed red hair to the gene poo l."

"It isn't possible," the man insisted."????? ?"This can't be, our families on both sides had jet-black hair for generations."

"Well," said the doctor, "let me ask you this. How often do you have sex??? "
The man seemed a bit ashamed . "I've been working very hard for the past year. We only made love once or twice every few months."

"Well, there you have it!" The doctor said confidently.

"It's rust."

Breaking News:

CNN reports that gas stations will start showing PORN movies on the

screens of the pumps so that you can see someone else getting screwed at

the same time you do.: !!

Best of QP, May15, 2008: UFO's Have Landed!

This one ended up being a little different, all the interesting sound bites were in the Member's Statements, and it ends with a very peculiar landing of UFO's! If anyone has the scoop on what happened, I would love to know. It appears CBC MP Pablo went ballistic, but seeing as it wasn't on camera, I can't confirm it.

Other than the Member's Statements, nothing was really interesting. Liberals were still smearing, NDP were yapping, and the Bloq, well, who cares about the Bloq. Maybe the opposition MP's should call up all those unemployed artists, and get them to script their performances.

Your Kids Are Going To Die!

Yes they are, unless you buy carbon credits from Russia and China! You better get with the Dion, save my butt with a carbon tax train, or your children are going to DIE!

Save the seals, save the polar bears, save your children, save the planet, with your tax dollars to econuts, and Dion. I wonder where is the Greenpeace ship? Is that ship flying it's pirate flag and rushing to help the people of Burma? They don't mind breaking Canadian laws to save some seals, so are they doing what pirates do best, break international laws, and provide aid to animals in need? (Yes, we are animals, we just happen to be at the top of the food chain. Well someone had to be, better humans, than the T-Rex.)

Let's see those pictures blazed across our TV screens, let's see those daring greenie weenies breaking through the Burma ship blockade to save, GASP, actual people!

So, where are you Greenpeace? Are humans not in pain, are they not suffering, are they not in need of help? Or is it that the protests against the seal hunt have filled your coffers, and you are too busy partying in the Bahamas?

Crickets..........

Best of QP May 14, 2008: Smear, and Smear

How do you answer questions in QP that are just smears, made up scandals and outright partisan attacks. Maybe with smears of your own? Nope, even though I am sure the Conservatives have plenty of ammo, they are not stooping to the opposition's level.

Desperation is never pretty, and all opposition parties are coming up flat. Their attacks are so petty that they look like fools by even asking the questions. What gulls them is that day after day this Conservative government, is running the country, and doing a great job. They never expected them to get into power, so they still haven't adjusted to the fact that the Conservatives rule.

The Unreported Speech

What is the MSM doing these days? They sure aren't reporting on anything the Prime Minister does, like this excellent speech at the 60th Anniversary of Israel. NO coverage at all, CTV must have been too busy at a terrorist __________ (fill in blank with, Hezbollah, Al Qaeda, Hamas) rally to report on it.

Luckily, we have the power of the blog, to make sure that some of PM Harper's speeches at least reach some of the people.

This is a must watch video, brought to you first by Darryl Wolk's blog, go watch it.

After a speech like that, what does the Globe and Mail report? Tories consider giving up on bid for top UN seat

"It looks like it's going to be harder this time than last time, given who we're running against, and the cumulative effect of change in Canadian policies, including Middle East votes, our climate change policy, and the policy of aid concentration, which lessens the connections with Canada of a large number of countries," said Paul Heinbecker, who was Canada's ambassador to the United Nations from 2000 to 2004.

There it is in black and white, support Israel, lose status with the UN. No one will say it right out loud, that's not the "progressive" way, never, ever, ever, actually admit that supporting Israel will upset the Middle East countries. You know, those countries like Iran, that want to build nuclear bombs to blow Israel into eternity. The progressives, ahem, lefty socialists, pretend to support our troops, they pretend to support Israel, but boil it down, and they support their right to rule the earth, because they are addicted to power.

Make sure you watch the video, it's another excellent speech by our Prime Minister!

Globe and Mail, Love Ontario Pigs, Hate Alberta Buffalo

Well the Globe is at again, as usual, not a day goes by that they don't find some way to slam Conservatives, and I see that Dion takes his talking points from the Globe in Question Period.

They blow up small issues into HUGE headlines, and hide sensitive articles behind their "firewall". Here's an example.

Ottawa to pay farmers $50-million to slaughter hogsPAUL WALDIE AND JOE FRIESEN

TORONTO and WINNIPEG -- In an unprecedented move, the federal government plans to pay hog farmers up to $50-million in total to slaughter as many as 150,000 breeding swine.Farmers will receive $225 for every hog they kill, so long as they agree to wipe out their entire breeding herd and stay out of the hog business for three years. The government hopes the program will reduce a glut on the market that has helped drive down prices.

Notice how the rest of the article is behind a firewall? Now, read, and feel free to comment on this article:

Alberta to cull bison population

Edmonton — Alberta wildlife officials want to kill nearly half of one of Canada's few remaining wood bison herds.

They say if the Hay-Zama population in northwestern Alberta continues to expand its range, it will become infected with diseased bison in Wood Buffalo National Park and probably have to be destroyed.

Officials say the herd is also creating a road hazard, with several collisions already reported.

The province will issue 300 licences beginning this fall to hunt bison in previously closed areas.

Federal officials say they are working on a plan to decide what to do about the tuberculosis-infected bison in Wood Buffalo.

So, let me get this right, 150,000 pigs get slaughtered and buried, and the pig farmers get 50 million to do this, with people starving around the world, but Alberta wants to issue 300 hunting licences to hunters, and that's a CULL!

Grow up Globe and Mail. Seriously, my work has already switched from the Globe to the National Post, and more will follow unless the Globe starts acting like an adult, not a whiny teenager.

Best of QP May 13, 2008 Dead Party Walking

Slander, corruption, smears, you name it, the "dead party walking" tried it today! We got Mulroney, Cadman, in and out, up and down, sideways, backwards, biker chicks, but the Liberals ended up hanging upside down, like bats, in caves. Luckily Iggy has the Puffins to hide their excrement, they just can't find any Puffins right now.

Seriously, all the Liberals did was fling poop hoping something would stick, like monkeys in the zoo. It's getting embarrassing for them, no policy, no principles, no morals.

PM Harper treats Dion's question with the respect it deserves, none. Various Conservative MP's provide ZINGERS as backup. Can you smell the winds of change? Conservatives are fighting back. It's Tuesday, where is the weekly "scandal"? Come on Globe/CTV haven't you fed some Liberal something? Anything?

Liberals, the "Dead Party Walking", and loving it!

Free Range Chickens??

Well how about "free range children"? I've been raising my kids as free range children for years, now it becomes trendy.

The free-range child

No flash cards. No swimming lessons at three months. No hand-holding. Just a whole lot of unstructured time. A growing number of parents are espousing a radical philosophy: It's time our children got some life skills by actually living

Finally, common sense returns! I didn't know I was trendy. I hope this trend lasts. It's a healthy, family saving idea.

Cleone Grasham's days of shuttling her three daughters hither and yon to sports, choir and other organized activities are over.

The Toronto mother has scaled it back to one gymnastics class for one of her kids – and that's it.

“It was wearing on everybody,” says Ms. Grasham of her family's once-packed schedule.

“Everything was late and dinner was always rushed, and by the end of the day no one seemed to have done as much as they had wanted to do.”

For one thing, school offerings such as plays and community service projects already keep her kids, 6, 10 and 11, busy.

But with her own fond childhood recollections of simply playing soccer in the park until calls of “Dinner!” summoned her home, Ms. Grasham is actively embracing a gleefully retro rethink of the condition of the modern child.

If my boys ask to get involved in an activity, we will support their choice, as long as they want to do it, but they go in with the understanding that they must finish what they start. This makes them think carefully about how they want to spend their free time. No fast food suppers in this house, except pizza on Fridays. If my boys want me to make potato salad or perogies, they have to help, if they want to eat it. Glad to see some other parent's are catching the common sense bug.

On the one hand, he says, we're pushing kids to achieve academically and rack up life skills to prepare them for a competitive world. On the other, we're holding them back by not allowing them freedom – to walk to school, to stay home alone – that previous generations enjoyed. With a growing swell of parenting experts to feed each impulse, parents can easily forget that childrearing is hardwired into them.

That's the problem, all those so called "experts" probably don't even have children of their own, or if they do, they use them as guinea pigs for their books. This just shows the Conservatives $100 a month universal childcare plan, that gives parents a choice, was the right plan for families. Imagine, parents as the "parenting experts" and not some lefty socialist "expert".

So, free range children? I'm all for it!

Best of Question Period May 12, 2008

Quite a boring QP overall, but I did find some interesting segments. Liberals continue to smear, what do they think they gain by that?

Szabo stands up and gets slammed. Findlay stands up and gets slammed, as a matter of fact, the Liberals just plain got slammed. Even the useless, pension loving, Canada hating, Bloq get slammed. That's how it went, Conservatives won this day!

Sometimes You Just Need To Be Uplifted!

Christian Conservative got me thinking with this post of his. He got me thinking about music bands and fame, and drugs and dysfunctional celebrity Mom's, but most importantly he got me thinking about the power music has to change our world. I had heard a commercial on TV, with a group singing a song, but I had never heard it before, so, I went looking, and I found it. Something to calm your soul, it's a good listen. Warning to non-believer's, cover your eyes and ears, remember we are descended from monkeys.

Next post in a few hours, because I want to keep the good vibes of a little bit longer, Question Period, see which video makes you feel better.

The Spin Begins....

with Garth Turner. I don't go to his site, but this comment in a Globe and Mail forum shows how the Liberals hope to spin a Carbon tax. My comments are added in the bolded brackets.

B R from Canada writes: Read what Garth Turner says about it.: (Garth who?, or is that you Garth?)
As you also know, I think the Harper government’s blown its chance to help us on both these fronts. The country has no gutsy plan to deal with greenhouse gas emissions (Biggest greenhouse gas, 95% water vapour, solve that one!) or climate change, while federal spending has gone up, the budget surplus has evaporated (Oh, no more goodies for Liberal friends if they ever get back into power), and income taxes are still far, far too high. (Oh, so let's add a carbon tax to income taxes, great idea)

Practically everyone believes we’re on the precipice of an environmental crisis (No, only lefties think this, the rest of us use our common sense), and every piece of news about oil-soaked ducks (Hey, more ducks get killed by hunters in the fall then 500), cyclones in Burma (Naturally occuring climate change, how about that erupting volcano?), arctic ice melting (Not in the Antarctic, it's growing)and polar bears at risk (At risk of what? Starving because there are too many?)just confirms it.

But many folks worry it’s impossible to take real steps to deal with the threat to our climate without threatening the economy even more. (Oh, getting lots of negative e-mails are you, spin away, it's not going to work.)

Except one guy that I work with – Stephane Dion. (HA! Right, priorities, priorities)

The Liberal leader’s working on a plan which will do the right thing for the environment while actually easing the burden on families. It’s bold, unusual and complicated. (Meaning us peons can't understand it, so just believe me!) It will try to tax the things we don’t want (Notice the use of TRY) , like pollution, emissions and waste, while lowering taxes on the things we do want, like earning income, saving and investing. That’s called tax shifting. (That's called, covering your butt because your leader is clueless, or a tax grab, you pick.)

So expect him to call for a price to be put on carbon. That means companies which dump this crap in the air (CO2 is NOT a pollutant, but mercury in those new swirly light bulbs is) – like oil refiners (Don't drive.), power plants (Sit in the dark), smelters (Don't buy anything, like a big screen TV)– will have to pay for doing so. (NO, the polluters pay, and guess who that is? US, the companies won't pay) This will encourage them to find clearer ways of doing business.

The money raised will then be used to fund tax cuts, to corporations (so they have more money to invest and grow) (OH, you Liberals like tax cuts to corporations now? Better tell Dalton that little tidbit) and to individuals (to offset any increased prices caused by the carbon tax). (NO, NO, NO, the individuals are the ones paying ALL the carbon taxes, talk about the price of food for the poorest going up. If you are giving tax cuts to corporations, this is not going to be revenue neutral for taxpayers.)

Some people think such a plan, while probably long overdue (Right we love more taxes) and well constructed (Better spin harder, I'm not buying), is political suicide. (Yes, finally you get something right, it is political suicide)

God's gift to the Conservatives, the tag team of Dion and Garth. "I'm Liberal, and loving it!" Spin on Garth, what ever happened to MPTV?? Liberals shut you down?

My most important question is, will Dion be using a knife and fork to eat his hotdogs on the BBQ tour this summer, inquiring minds want to know.

And So, Mother's Weep!

My boys made supper tonight, and rice was part of the meal, it made me think about all the Mother's around the world who must weep because they can not feed their children. After reading all the stories this week about Burma, I am disgusted with the military juntas, and their lack of caring for their own people, as the world waits to help them.

DART waits to enter Burma; death toll passes 28,000

Canadian officials hoped to convince Burma's military rulers to accept humanitarian aid from the Disaster Assistance Response Team on Sunday, as the death toll from a massive cyclone surpassed 28,000.

Members of the Canadian Forces' DART are waiting for approval in neighbouring Thailand. The team can provide clean drinking water and medical assistance to survivors, but Burma's junta has imposed restrictions on who can enter the country.

Wow, that was fast, DART is already in Thailand, good going! The junta's are sad, little, sick, power hungry men, I bet their families aren't living on one cup of rice a day. They care nothing for the people who are needlessly dying. Every Mother (and Father, but this is still Mother's Day)loves her child with her whole heart and soul, to watch them starve to death must be unimaginable.

And so, Mother's weep.

What we need is an organization that can put the incredible power of being a Mother to use against tyrants. Mother's will do everything they can to protect their young, not just human Mom's either, you only have to look to aminals to see the unique bond mother's have with their young.

All Mother weep.

Which brings me to feminist organizations. They are useless, self serving, do nothing but suck money out of taxpayer's frauds. They are too busy yelling about unionized daycare, when they have no children of their own, to advocate FOR women in Afghanistan, Burma, and Africa. They deserve no money from governments. How much would we be able to send to Burma Mom's, if the governments would fund only projects that get results, not those that write reports, and keep latte sipping feminists employed?

And still the Mother's weep.

I know there are many Christian organizations that help people, but we need one for "Mom's helping Mom's", not the bloated Red Cross, or any disfunctional UN organization. If you know of an organization like that, please let me know, I would love to join the fight, so that we can stop....

Mother's from having to weep.

Yikes! My Son The Conservationist!

While helping my youngest son (12) with supper, we were talking about how I start my flowers from seed, and conserve water by having 4 rain barrels to catch the spring runoff, and any rain during the summer. He piped up and said, "Well Mom, I conserve water everyday!" "How", I asked him, and this is what he told me.....

He saves water everyday by wearing the same outfit all week! He figures this saves lots of water, because he only has one set of dirty clothes a week! Can't fault him with that logic. He went on to tell me that one shower a week instead of one a day, saves tons on water. Again, solid logic from him, he is saving water everyday. Also, he saves water, by not brushing his teeth in the morning. What a trooper!

For any Mom's out there, with boys, I bet they have used the same type of logic on you, when they are trying to avoid getting clean. Thankfully, this appears to be a stage they grow out of once they get interested in girls!

Until then, my little conservationist is quite happy, in the same set of clothes all week, until Saturday bath/shower time. You can't say he isn't doing his part for our environment!

Happy Mother's Day!

Friday Funnies: Dogs, Babies and Wine!

Dear friends,

I just read an article on the dangers of heavy drinking....
Scared the s*it out of me.
So that's it!
After today, no more reading.

Too cute!

And the best for last:

I have no idea how they do this: TYPE IN a command and see what happens... sit, roll over, down, stand, sing, dance, shake, fetch, play dead etc. and... it's also very cute if you type in a command that's not recognized...!! Make sure you type in "Kiss" too, but do it last.

What They Have Done Part II

They must be doing quite a lot because it's going to take more than two videos to cover it all!

More to come....

What They Have Done! Part I

Sandy at Crux of the Matter has a list of the Harper Government's Accomplishments that she maintains. I have added that list to PM Harper's victory speech for your viewing pleasure. Hope it helps gets the word out about how much this government is actually doing. Enjoy.

More to follow.

Best of QP May 8, 2008

Well, this was a silly session, all smear, no substance. It just shows how desperate the Liberals and Bloq are becoming as their numbers are falling, fast.

Biker babes with nice teats make news, so expect this to go on, and on, and on. I wonder how many MP's would like a light shone on their personal life? Away from home all week, lonely, tempted by young sexy assistants, do the MP's resist temptation or not?

This opens up a door that MP's should have thought of before their stomped all over Bernier, be careful who you accuse, your turn might be next, and your wife might not like it. Bet some young interns have stories to tell now that the door has been opened.

Bernier is single, he can date whoever he likes, how about the married MP's, are they fair game now? Can a MP raise in the House and accuse another MP of cheating on his wife? This could be fun, or it could wreck families, is that what the Liberals want? Can anyone now stand up in the house and smear another MP because they took their assistant out to lunch?

PM Harper was right, Dion and Duceppe are busy buddies. May the two misfits enjoy life in the no go lane.

Oh My God, Now It's The Koalas!

Bad enough that the polar bears are increasing in numbers because of CO2, now, we have the cute, cuddly, Koala bears suffering from CO2. This is a disaster.

CO2 pollution threatens koalas, researcher says

CANBERRA — Koalas are threatened by the rising level of carbon dioxide pollution in the atmosphere because it saps nutrients from the eucalyptus leaves that the animals feed on, a researcher said Wednesday.

Guess seals aren't cute enough, now we have koalas at risk. Hello, CO2 is loved by plants, in return we get oxygen. No CO2, no oxygen, no life. Carbon dioxide "pollution"??? Sicko's want less oxygen. They never mention that plants need CO2, that we need CO2 to be turned into oxygen. They never mention that more CO2 means faster plant growth. Hey, maybe that would help with all the starving masses, it means more food.

The researchers found that carbon dioxide in eucalyptus leaves affects the balance of nutrients and “anti-nutrients” – substances that are either toxic or interfere with the digestion of nutrients.

Right. Now we have "anti-nutrients", which are either toxic or not. Give me a break, I garden, you plant seeds, water, and harvest.

I'm going to start an "anti-nutrient" exchange, so send me your dollars, I will send you a certificate that states that your sins have been forgiven, and your "anti-nutrient" footprint has been reduced.

Best of Question Period, May 7, 2008

This episode is complete with Duceppe going off the roof and diving into a pool of goofy. Red faced, and spitting, he loses control. I'm ashamed that we have such a party in Canada, they are disrespecting all people who are Canadian by pretending they are superior to everyone. I usually call the Liberals arrogant, but the Bloq has them beat by a mile (kilometre).

It almost makes me regret that I spent over $2,000 for my son to go visit Quebec this year. Almost, because he loved Quebec, and he was treated royally by the people of Quebec. Thank you Quebec, you made my sons first adventure away from home one that he will remember all his life. From what he tells me, he stumbled into a deli in Montreal, and had, according to him, the best "sandwich" he had ever had in his life.

I love Quebec for the unique flavour it brings to Canada, and hope they wake up and vote the Bloq out. They threaten to tear our majestic country apart, and can never be anything but opposition. Quebec would be better served by Conservative MP's who can actually make changes.

Clement makes a very important point about how committees are stalling good legislation from passing. Most committees appear to be dysfunctional due to opposition partisan agendas. Sad. They refuse to vote this government down, so they do everything they can to disrupt it. Sneaky little thugs.

You need to watch the last bit, finally Thibault is guilty of Conflict of Interest in the Schreiber affair, duh, you think? He tries to slime his way out of it, but gets called out by David Tilson. Suck it up Thibault, you met with Schrieber numerous times, and had no right to question former PM Mulroney.

All in all, an eye opening Question Period.

Lotto 24 Sussex!

I blogged about Mike Holmes coming to the rescue of 24 Sussex, I still think it's a great idea. Next election is Oct 2009, after the Conservatives win a majority, that leaves 4 years to renovate. It also sounds like Mike Holmes might be available after Jan 2009. It would be a great opportunity for regular Canadians to see the house being upgraded. I will never set foot in 24 Sussex, as 98% of Canadians won't, but we could feel part of it if we see the renovations going on in a weekly update from Mike Holmes. Will he do it?

Thanks to commenter Frmgrl, who pointed me to this interview with David Rutherford and Mike, it's worth the listen. Go to May 7 9:00AM and then fast forward to 34:35.

What this boils down to is 30 cents per Canadian to fix a Heritage House that the Prime Minister just happens to live in. Too much you say?

One of Rutherford's guests had an excellent idea....a lottery! Lotto 24 Sussex, tickets $1 or $2 each, for your chance to win a million and get to meet the Prime Minister at the renovated 24 Sussex Drive. Or meet Mike Holmes in person and help with the renovations, I'd love to be flown to Ottawa and see Parliament again.

Think about it, 10 million from taxpayers (.30 each) which many people are already snivelling about, or a lottery where you get a chance to win a million. It's really a win/win idea. If you don't like your tax money going to renovations, no problem, don't buy a ticket.

Lotto 24 Sussex, restore our national treasures!

Best Of QP, May 6, 2008

I am going to try doing these "Best of Question Period" mini-videos as often as I can, but they are very time consuming to make. First you need to record the clips you want, then you need to edit them, then you need to get the video on Youtube, then finally you need to write a post on your blog. Phew, I'm tired. It's worth it as long as people click and watch the video though. So, here's todays "Best of..."

Enjoy, I'm off to bed.

Calling Mike Holmes!!

This should be a no-brainer, but don't count on it!

PM's residence needs $10 million in repairs

The prime minister and his family may have to pack up and find a new temporary home if they heed the advice of Canada's auditor general.

A report released by Sheila Fraser on Tuesday states that "24 Sussex Drive (is) showing signs of fatigue and wear, and (requires) extensive repair work."

The repairs are estimated to cost about $10 million, and the report notes that "prolonged access to 24 Sussex Drive will be required for rehabilitation of the residence." That would require the prime minister and his family to move out for up to 15 months.

On CTV's Mike Duffy Live, Fraser listed off a number of repairs that need to be made. She said:

The windows are extremely old
There is a lot of asbestos in the house
The residence does not have a sprinkler system
"The list goes on and on," Fraser said.

Okay, so just do it!! Well, not so fast according to this CTV poll:

The auditor general says 24 Sussex needs $10M-worth of renovations. What should the PM do?

Listen, it's worth it 1104 votes (56 %)
Ignore, stay frugal 885 votes (44 %)

Total Votes: 1989

I just want to know why 44% of Canadians don't want to protect our heritage? Have they no pride in Canada's history?

Let's send in Mike Holmes, we can get the real honest truth from him. It would also be fun to watch his show and see the repairs being done. It's a win/win for Holmes and Canadians.

Best Of Question Period, May 5, 2008

Most people are too busy to watch Question Period, so here is the short version. It's quite challenging to reduce 45 minutes into 5 or 6 minutes, only the best responses get the spotlight. If you think this is partisan, too bad, do your own version of QP.

My response is found in the subtitles.

H/T to Reid from Right from Alberta.

Globe And Mail, In Full Cry!

They must be in financial trouble, because they are pulling out all the stops with the anti-Conservative attack. Maybe they should check with the Liberals about their fund raising campaign, and follow in their footsteps. HA!!

Here is a sample of today's Globe:

Three NATIONAL stories, all three negative against the Conservatives.
And what do they have as their TOP story?

At least they used a nice picture of PM Harper. Congrats on losing 40 pounds PM Harper, it's very noticeable, and that grey hair just makes you hotter! (Oh, I can say that, it's not like it isn't true, and for those of you who don't bother to read my profile...I AM A FEMALE!, but if males think he's hot, I have no problem with that. HA.)

This is obviously the scandal for this week. What does the Globe do, meet with the Liberals on the weekend, and discuss what they should ask in Question Period? Oh, wait, if memory serves me, isn't one of their reporters married to a top Liberal advisor? Or is that CTV, they are such cannibals it's hard to keep track.

Here is your challenge, find out the last time the Globe and Mail actually printed a favourable story about the federal Conservative government, without any snide words added, without a negative headline. I say federal, because they love Liberal Premier Williams from NL.

Taxes, Did You Come Out Ahead This Year?

The deadline has come and gone, so now all I'm waiting for is my refund. I was supposed to pay money, but then I transfered the child credit of $1000 per child under 18 from my husband to me, and presto, refund!

Acording to my calculations, each child under 18 is a $250 refund. Tack that on to the tax rate being reduced, the bus refund, and income splitting, most people are sitting with extra money in their pocket. Don't forget the 2% reduction of the GST, that is huge, no matter what the economists say. Believe me, I know many economists, and they disagree about everything.

Canadians are sitting back, enjoying their refunds, and thinking that the Conservatives are doing a great job.

Include the $100 a month childcare money, and who but the clueless lefties can complain? They want to raise gas prices with a carbon tax. I have never met a tax I liked.

Maybe we can all use a potion of our refunds to help the people fighting the HRC's, take some of that money and support one or all of the 5 people being sued.

Did anyone else find they benefited from the tax reductions, or am I the only one?

First They Wanted To Kill Knut....

Now the Toronto Zoo has killed two male reindeer babies. Why? Beats me. I see absolutely no logic in their actions.

Toronto Zoo brass say ... Rudolph must die!

Wait until Santa finds out. Toronto Zoo starts killing male baby reindeer to manage the herd. Staff are heartbroken -- and furious

Dear Santa: I hope you are sitting down.

The Toronto Zoo is killing baby boy reindeer.

Now Dasher! Now Dancer! Now Prancer...

The first was dispatched shortly after his birth April 8.

His mom, Hayzel, bellowed mournfully for two days. You could hear her from Meadowvale Rd.

The second met the same fate at the point of a hypodermic on April 22.

His mom, CUPE, is named for the zoo staff's union.

Both little gaffers were chocolate brown and gangly cute. They had barely begun to nurse.

Both were perfectly healthy.

"Euthanized due to being male," says the keepers' report, terse and angry.

The keepers were so upset they left as the vets moved into the reindeer enclosure and refused to take part.

"This is wrong," the keepers told the vets, who were none too happy either.

Three female babies have been spared.

Where is Greenpeace on this horror? Too busy protesting 500 ducks that died. Yesterday the sky was black with geese returning up north, ducks aren't exactly a scarce commodity. It's sad the ducks died, but it wasn't deliberate like the killing of those two reindeer. That was a deliberate choice made by the Zoo.

Funny, I thought zoos love baby animals.

There's always a fuss when a cute little snow leopard or polar bear comes into the world, out in the wilds of northeast Scarborough.

Two days before Hayzel's son was put to death with sodium pentobarbital, a press release announced the arrival of a baby gaur.

Congratulations to Flower and Hercules. Gaurs are huge, wild Asian cattle.

The baby? A bouncing boy. Doing fine.

Need I add, a week from now is Mother's Day at the zoo. Given what's transpired, I hope they have the sense not to showcase the reindeer moms. Two of them aren't celebrating.

This is okay because the Zoo can't profit from selling the males?

Maria Franke, curator of mammals, tells me the decision to euthanize male reindeer calves was made by something called the Animal Care, Research and Acquisition Committee.

"It was a gruelling process," she assures me. "We do not take this lightly. There is science behind it."

It's especially hard to sell reindeer because of disease fears. There's no room.

Too expensive to release in the wild. If they keep the males they'll be lonely. They yearn for their own harem. We can't even sell the two bucks we have now. No one likes this. It's a necessary evil. Blah, blah, blah.

Science behind it? Oh, like the science behind global warming? Environmentalists, first it's global warming, then climate change, then don't kill the baby seals, then protest duck deaths, but no problem killing two perfectly healthy male reindeer, that's science.

On Mother's Day, I hope to see huge protests against the Toronto Zoo by Greenpeace, if not, it really tells you that they are in it for the money, not to protect the environment and ALL of those who live in it.

HRC's Are A Snake Pit.

Who knew the HRC's were such a snake pit? Only those poor souls who have been accused knew how biased they were, and because they were the unknown Canadian no-one cared. The HRC's were flying under the radar. Brenda Martin has received more sympathy than many of the people who were accused by our own HRC's.

Many Conservatives are slamming the government for not acting against these old fashioned witch hunters, and I could agree, they have been too silent about this issue. Maybe with good reason though.

We need to step back and look at it from a different prospective. Any so-con issue immediately gets the opposition up in arms. The HRC's are a perfect example of how the opposition could use this issue as a "hidden agenda" scare tactic.

Human Rights Commission, the name is all that Canadians focus on, it sounds worthwhile, so Canadians support it. That's the problem, Joe Homemaker has no idea about what the HRC's have actually been up to, he hears the name and thinks it's a good idea. So, if the Conservatives had come out slugging against the HRC's, like many Conservative supporters wanted, they would have been crucified. So, we had mainly silence. Look at how the opposition and media have made the "in and out" scheme into a scandal, imagine what they would have done to the Conservatives if they tried to change section 13.

People are starting to clue into what the HRC's are up to. They have been flying under the radar for too long. The eye opening started with Ezra Levant, and his YouTube tapes, it has shone a light into the darkness of the HRC's. But it was only political junkies who knew about the problems Ezra has been having. Then came the National Post, opening up more eyes, then we got Liberal MP Keith Martin, who has been a blessing to the Conservatives, they can now support this Liberal bill without the MSM yapping about "scary" so-cons.

Then next, we get Mike Duffy interviewing Ezra and, on Friday, Steyn, he was very supportive.

Has this hit the average voters yet? No, I don't think so, most people still hear Human Rights and will side with them no matter what, just because of their name, not what they do.

I applaud Kenney for sticking his neck out in a hostile crowd. This issue is growing, as more and more people step forward. It's like the turtle and the hare, slow but steady wins the race.

Pierre Has A Stunning Ending To His Week!

Pierre Poilievre had a great week. Everytime anyone in opposition raised the "in and out" scheme, he got up and pounded them with their own "in and out" schemes. All parties are dirty if the Conservatives are found to be dirty, but they continue to try to use this as a vote getting issue.

What impressed me the most was the Member's Statement he made on Friday, in support of Israel. Too bad he only had a minute to make his point, he obviously had more to say about the far lefties who spew their own brand of hate, but are never called on it. Well Pierre called them on it, and the universities he mentioned should be ashamed.

No wonder the lefties don't like Pierre, he makes them look bad.

Sneaky Pollster, I'm Shocked!

Well I was wondering two things today, what happened to David Aiken, he's now the invisible man, and what are the polls showing? David is still invisible, but I did find an interesting press release from Angus Reid, on an online survey done for the... Toronto Star, that should give you a hint of what's coming. Here is the press release from Angus Reid:

Tory Loss is Liberal Gain; Parties Separated by Just Three Points
Now here is the subtitle:

Harper edges Dion on seven leadership qualities, but more Canadians regard the Liberal leader as honest and trustworthy.

See now sneaky that is?

PM Harper beats up on Dion in 7 out of 8 categories, BUT Dion winning one category is the important news? Here is the table to support their report.

Thinking about the following qualities and characteristics, please say whether you think they apply to Stephen Harper? / Stéphane Dion?
----------------------------------------------------Stephen----Stéphane
----------------------------------------------------Harper-----Dion

Is a strong and decisive leader---------------------51%---------8%
Has a vision for Canada’s future-------------------47%--------30%
Can manage the economy effectively---------------42%--------14%
Understands complex issues------------------------41%--------29%
Understands the problems of Canadians----------34%--------23%
Is honest and trustworthy---------------------------33%--------38%
Inspires confidence---------------------------------32%--------10%
Generally agrees with you on issues you care about--30%--------24%

Okay, my understanding of "edges" means barely beats out, as opposed to "trounces" which means slaughters. This table is an example of a slaughter. Strong and decisive leader 51% to 8%, this wasn't the subtitle? Why not? They hone in on the one semi-positive result for Dion, a 5 point lead over PM Harper on honest and trustworthy, a few days after a staged raid on the Conservative party headquarters.

This actually disgusts me, because pollsters are supposed to be unbiased. Read the whole report, it is very sneaky.

The governing Conservative Party has lost public support over the past four weeks, with Canadian voters taking a second look at the Liberals and New Democrats, according to the Toronto Star / Angus Reid poll.

Lost public support, or dropped by 3% in an online poll?

Canadians remain uninspired by the two main federal party leaders. More than a third of respondents (37%) prefer Harper as Prime Minister, while only 10 per cent favour Dion.

Hello, 37% prefer PM Harper as compared to 10% for Dion, and Canadians are uninspired? You would think that this was the Toronto Star article, you would except that from them, but this is the Angus Reid press release.

Here is the Susan Delacourt/Star take on this report.

It seems clear that Conservatives' fortunes are being negatively affected by the RCMP raid and the legal dispute with Elections Canada over the way 2005-06 election ad funds moved "in and out" between local ridings and the national office.
Even in Alberta, a bastion of Conservative support, a majority – 51 per cent – believe the party's credibility has been eroded.

I can not find those statistics anywhere in the Angus Reid report, is Delacourt just making things up?

I know Angus Reid has to give the client what they want, and obviously the Star wants negative reports about the PM and Conservative party. Susan, your skirt is stuck in your panyhose.... oh, I mean, your bias is showing!

Friday Funnies: Dog And A Duck

So Americans are going to start receiving their "Bush Bucks" soon, what should they do with them?

As you may have heard, the Bush Administration said each of us would get a
rebate check to stimulate the economy.

If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money, will go to China . If we
spend it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs, if we purchase a computer it
will go to India, if we purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico,
Honduras, and Guatemala. If we purchase a good car it will go to Japan, if
we purchase useless junk it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help the
American economy.

We need to keep that money here in America .

The only way to keep that money here at home is to spend it
at yard sales, since those are the only businesses still in the US.

Do your part.

I love garage sales!

Judge to prostitute, 'So when did you realize you were raped?'

Prostitute, wiping away tears: 'When the check bounced.'

This is a very cute little video of two young ones.

Have a great Friday!
